Roadworks (2021) is an ongoing series analyzing the United States's reliance and relationship to the road and as a car nation. From Eisenhower's promise of ideological unity with the inception of the Interstate system, to the road (and automobile) as a symbol of progress, expansion and (Westward) mobility, Roadworks seeks to take these idealized road sentiments and mythos and contextualize them in the contemporary moment. Questioning our reliance to the road as we are in the midst of an ecological reckoning largely fueled by fossil fuels.
Billboards takes viewers on a fabricated road loitered with 50 billboard advertisements (one from every state), the advertisements feature screengrabs from each state, moving from East to West, taken in Google Earth.
